What is my approach to handling a personal injury case
I believe that the right to a jury trial is our most precious right. Therefore, from the start of a case to its conclusion I prepare the case as if it is going to be tried. In today's environment of crowded court dockets and busy law firms, sometimes the desire to settle a case over takes the need for the parties to have their right before a jury. I do not believe that settling a case should be done simply because it is the easiest way to conclude a case. My clients deserve full compensation for their losses, and compromising their claims through settlement should only be done if it is what they desire and is their best interests.
This means that the client should be kept informed on the strength and weaknesses of his or her case regularly during the course of the case. In this way the client knows well in advance of any settlement discussion whether trial of the case is the better course of action.
Settlement of a case has its place, but settling for less than the case's true value may not be the best decision. I enjoy trying cases, and if the client wants to have his or her case tried before a jury, then I will support that decision.
